Fearfully and Wonderfully Made

“The Lord said, ‘I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart…’” Jeremiah 1:4

God knew about each one of us and had a plan for us—as individual persons—even before we were born!

That’s what makes the Roe v. Wade decision, handed down on January 22, 1973, so devastating. Today, about 25% of pregnancies end in abortion (1.2 million preborn children).

“My first abortion was at age 19. I had three,” Shirley Archuletta told Family News in Focus. “This secret just about killed me. I went through so much. I had so much unforgiveness in my heart.”

Thankfully, there’s been a wonderful turnaround. The Lord has used a loving husband and a Crisis Pregnancy Center to bring hope and healing in her life. If you’ve been party to an abortion, don’t let this secret keep you from experiencing new hope and healing in Jesus. To reach our local Center, call 216-631-0964.

A significant reason for the decline in abortions is an advance in technology, like improved ultrasound machines that give expectant parents a view of their child. More and more people recognize that abortion takes the life of a little girl or boy.

Let’s continue to pray for change, and to live out Proverbs 31:8-9—“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves…Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice.”

As author John Piper has said, “My aim is that just as the Supreme Court in the Dred Scott case of 1857 held that Black slaves were property without rights as free persons yet today we view that as unthinkable, so also even though the Supreme Court in Roe v. Wade did not give the unborn the rights of free persons, nevertheless the day may come when that too is viewed as unthinkable. My aim is to hasten the day when being publicly pro-choice will be as reprehensible as being publicly racist.”
