Canceled: Young Adult Gathering
March 12 at 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
- This event has passed.
We wanted to let you know as soon as possible, as soon as we were certain, that we have made the decision to not gather tonight.
It was a tough call for us to make. The state government is enacting an order that gatherings of >100 people should be canceled. They left the decision open for religious gatherings, leaving a grey area for churches and minitstries. Considering the well being of all who may be affected, we feel it is best for us to follow the spirit of the order, not just the letter of the order. The reason these calls are being made is not just so I [Beth] don’t personally become sick, but so that I do not indirectly contribute to others getting sick.
If you, like me, succumbed to the infinite scroll through social media over the last 24 hours, you’ve seen a lot of infographics, a lot of memes, a lot of photos of empty store shelves. When my mind went to whether my supply of toilet paper would be sufficient, and my entrepreneurial brain kicked in… can I sell this to increase my wedding budget? I realized… when fear is in the air in this quantity, people will become more and more selfish. That’s essentially what this self-preservation is.
Selfishness doesn’t look good on anyone, but especially those who are wearing the name of Jesus. So, in order to make sure we are loving other people well, acting in wisdom, and honoring Jesus: we are going to suspend meeting together in-person tonight.
As we continue to get updates, and prayerfully make decisions each day, we’ll be in touch via email and social to let you know when we get to meet together next!
Can you help us with something? If there’s anyone from our group that you know is doing a social media fast, or may not be as on-top of our communications as you are, would you do us a favor and reach out to them?
We love you, we miss you, and we’re praying for you!
– Beth Siesel, Jim Pavkov, John Matthews, and Andy Carr
PS. We made this for you! We know that we’re behind the curve on this, but since we can’t meet in-person tonight… will you meet us in our new Facebook Group? Let us know what is getting shaken up in your life this week, school-wise, work-wise, health-wise, so that we can encourage one another, and pray with intention.
