December 5 2020 – Update from PJ + Mary

Hi friend–

Would you pause for a moment and pray for hospital staff and first responders?  It’s been a tough week. We are continuing to meet onsite for Sunday worship services, with extra care to honor one another by wearing masks and keeping social distance.  Tomorrow we launch new classes; you can see the link for those as well as lots of other info in our new bulletin. Mary and I highlight the focus of the new message series in our 3-minute video clip here.

You may be wondering how our church family is doing financially during this unusual year.  Here’s a quick snapshot:

Year-to-date 2020 Grace Church giving
Local Ministry                    95% of budget
Global Ministry                  76% of budget
Building Fund                    78% of budget
Emergency Relief Fund    250% of 2019 giving

We’ve been able to hold our spending to 89% of budget so that we’re ‘in the black’ for the year.  I am moved by the generosity of our church family, even in a pandemic year! Thank you! The Emergency Relief Fund balance is the highest it’s been in over 20 years. The more pressing need at Grace right now is our Local Ministry (which covers all of the ministry from our campuses in Middleburg Heights and Olmsted Falls) and Global Ministry (the support of 700+ workers with The Alliance; see their year-end effort here). Thanks for making an impact through your giving! I’d love to see us have a strong finish in December, especially in the first 3 funds listed above.

Big thanks to our Treasurer, Hal Kruger, and our Financial Secretary, Diane Lieblein Farrell. Diane and Hal were elected to their positions by the church family and are marked by competence, diligence, and integrity. We are so grateful for their faithful service behind the scenes to help administer and ensure we maintain the highest standards of stewardship with the financial resources you faithfully give.

Isaiah 40 says that the Lord gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. May you sense that today. Many blessings on you, and love from Mary as well.
