Joining the Family
This Wednesday, January 8, is the launch of our new Wednesday classes! The classes are open to everyone, even those who have never attended Grace before. So you’re welcome to invite a friend to join you for the journey of growth.
If you’re newer at Grace, you might consider the In-Touch class…an opportunity to interact with many of the Ministry Staff at Grace and to discover our values, beliefs, history, and mission. It also serves as the launch class for membership at Grace. Pastor Steve & Nancy Harper will host the class, which starts this Wed at 7 pm, Room 202.
Why consider membership? I realize some have been at Grace for years and have never taken this step. We still love you! …and here are some reasons to take that step.
The Bible says a Christian without a church home is like an organ without a body, a sheep without a flock, or a child without a family. The Bible says, “You belong in God’s household with every other Christian” (Ephesians 2:19b LB).
Joining a church family is like joining a team. Instead of bouncing around from one team to another, we commit to a group of people and work together for a common goal. In good times and in tough times, we encourage one another and stay the course.
When we come together in love as a church family from different backgrounds, race, and social status, it is a witness to the world (Galatians 3:28; John 17:21). As a participating member, you learn to care about others and share the experiences of others: “If one part of the body suffers, all the other parts suffer with it. Or if one part of our body is honored, all the other parts share its honor” (1 Corinthians 12:26).
All that to say, we’d love to have you take that vital step toward membership and have you on the team!
There are over a dozen other new Wednesday classes available, plus all the ones happening each Sunday. Check out today’s insert for a complete listing, or go to gracecma.org for more detailed class descriptions. And, new small groups are launching this coming week; you can find those at our website as well. The goal? We want to keep making advances in our goal of loving Jesus, growing with others, and serving the world.
