What to Expect

As a gCLE resident/intern you will experience vocational ministry alongside seasoned leaders in and around the Cleveland area. Our heart is to provide individuals who feel a call to ministry an opportunity to have practical, hands-on ministry experience in an environment that also invests in their personal development, leadership, and spiritual growth. Using, developing, and growing your God-given gifts/talents, leadership and spiritual journey are key during your time as an intern or resident.

Each intern and resident is placed within a specific ministry focus, but will also receive a broad exposure to ministry in many ways. A typical week  includes practical experience within their ministry focus, working on projects touching on a variety of ministries, and time spent studying the Bible and other leadership development curriculum. Interns and residents will be paired with a ministry coach to walk alongside them, help them process their experience, guide them in discerning their calling, and encourage them in their personal and spiritual growth. Finally, interns and residents will also spend time together as a cohort, meeting regularly to discuss scripture readings, work through leadership curriculum, debrief their ministry experiences, and pray together.

While training, interns and residents will be able to gain practical experience in areas such as teaching, organizing events, outreach, leading, making disciples, small groups, urban outreach, refugee ministry, worship, worship technology, and more. We have a variety of ministry focuses, but there is also the possibility of tailoring a focus to your specific interests. (not all placements are guaranteed)

The Internship takes place for 2.5 months in the summer, and the Residency begins in the fall and lasts about 9 months. For those in the Internship, this is a time to explore your calling and gain ministry experience and skills. The Residency is for those ready to take the next step in their calling to ministry, and through leadership and ministry training will be aided and equipped for deployment into a full-time ministry setting.

Interns and residents will be ministering a total of 40 hours each week, and will receive a monthly stipend. For those who do not live local, housing opportunities with host families/individuals are available (but not guaranteed) for single applicants only. This can be discussed further with the gCLE Directors.

If you sense God calling you to take the next step towards serving him in vocational ministry, we encourage you to apply! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. We look forward to hearing from you!
