Sunday 8:45am

According to the Bible Carol Bozic

This quarter we will do a Bible study on selected topics that we know about and may not really know according to the Bible such as:

  • Angels - they all are not good
  • Curses - do happen
  • Judgment - a very misunderstood action
  • Spirits - they do exist even without bodies
  • False Teachings - how to be quick to know and what to be watchful for

The adversary is very crafty in his dealings with the world. His goal is destruction. The world moves in many directions. Lies and deception are infiltrating into places once thought as safe where Satan would not tread.  We have at our fingertips God’s Word to equip us.  Each week we will explore the Bible, examining these topics and more if time permits. Our goal is to apply what the Bible has shown us with discernment, guidance and instruction through the Holy Spirit.  This class is open to men and women.  Bring your Bible.

Too Busy Not to Pray Dan Collings

For over two decades Too Busy Not to Pray has stood as a classic on prayer, helping Christians all over the world slow down to draw near to God. The urgent need for prayer is clear, but busyness still keeps many of us from finding time to pray. Two truths haven't changed in all these years: God is the same powerful, just, holy God he's always been; and true prayer―prayer that changes us and allows us to participate in God's work in the world―can't happen on the fly. So Bill Hybels once again offers us his practical, time-tested ideas on slowing down to pray. Revised throughout, this twentieth-anniversary edition of Too Busy Not to Pray calls both young and old to make prayer a priority, and broadens our vision for what our eternal, powerful God does when his people slow down to pray. Too Busy Not to Pray book - $10.

Paul – he was a Roman citizen, a Pharisee, an apostle, an evangelist, a missionary, a prisoner, and he sometimes referred to himself as “a bond-servant of Jesus”. How did Paul go from a persecutor of Christians to a prisoner for Christ, and more importantly, how can his example help us to live life with passion and purpose? This class will review the life of Paul in chronological order, from his early years in Tarsus, through his conversion, his missionary journeys, and his final years in a Roman prison. As Paul authored many of the letters in the New Testament, this study will also help to put them into the context of his life’s story.

Throughout the Bible, we see God's people struggle to understand why God allows illness. We may ask, “If God is our Healer, why is He silent when we pray.”  When God doesn't heal us, does it mean he doesn't care or does not hear our prayer? Learning the biblical stories and perspectives around chronic illness, we can find meaning and acceptance in our own struggles with health issues.

Keys to Recovery Jamie Norton

Recovery is the process of restoring what sin has taken away. Recovery means moving from a self-centered lifestyle to a Christ-centered lifestyle. You are not alone! The truth is, many people who deeply love God and desire to live for him struggle with addictions and compulsive behaviors. Whoever you are, wherever you have been, you are a person of infinite worth because God created you and because He loves you. Through recovery, you can become the unique human being that God designed you to be and live a Christ-honoring lifestyle that you tried to satisfy with your addictions and compulsions.

It doesn’t matter why you come, nor does it matter where you are in your recovery. Many of us have been where you are and know how difficult it is to take steps into recovery. We believe that the Christ-centered 12 steps, if applied as principles in your life, can and will improve the quality of your life. We have experienced men and women being set free from addictions to drugs, alcohol, lust, pornography, anger, codependency, compulsive food issues, and more.  It is our prayer that, by sharing our experience, strength and hope, You will experience the amazing healing power of Jesus Christ. We would be privileged to walk with you as you discover the fruit of the Holy Spirit.

This meeting begins with everyone together in a large group for prayer, readings, worship, devotion and a lesson, testimony or topic discussion. We then break into addiction specific small groups for women's substance, men's substance, eating disorders, codependency, and men's accountability.

We encourage you to become the Man God created you to be; living a Christ-Honoring life fulfilling what you've tried to satisfy through addictions with Christ. Join us as we make the life transforming journey of recovery and healing.

Meetings open with a scripture and prayer. Next we take a moment to allow people opportunity to share any major problems they may be facing before moving into the discussion. We study traditional recovery steps from a Christ-Centered perspective through discussion using a variety of methods. The meeting closes with announcement, prayer followed by coffee and fellowship.

Women’s Bible Study Marsha Durken Hallin

We hope you will consider joining us for a wonderful Bible study with other women of faith. We have a very diverse group, but the three main things we have in common is 1) a love for God, 2) a desire to deepen our walk with Him, and 3) the love of studying His word with other women who feel the same.  Come and join us any Saturday you can.  We meet all year long, except on holiday weekends, but there is no pressure to be there every week. Bring your Bible and join us. Questions?  Call 440-503-4107 or email mdh265@gmail.com.
