Through the Roof...

Ministries for People with Special Needs

Our name "Through the Roof" comes from the Bible passage about the paralyzed man in Mark 2: "They couldn't bring him to Jesus because of the crowd, so they dug a hole through the roof above his head. Then they lowered the man on his mat, right down in front of Jesus." (Mark 2:4)

disability1Through the Roof exists to minister to people with cognitive impairments by helping them to have a personal relationship with God, to integrate them into the life of the Church, and to give them the opportunity to have active roles in serving God.  We desire for them to experience the joy of knowing that they are valuable to God and to God’s people.

Through The Roof helps enable the Church to continue modeling Jesus' ministry to people with disabilities and to their families by meeting their spiritual, physical and social needs.  We believe that:

    • DSC 0249Everyone is created in God’s image and is deserving of love and justice—both in our society and in our churches.
    • People who have cognitive impairments deserve a chance to know about God and feel God’s love.
    • Those with special needs deserve to be treated with respect and to have friendships with others who know and love God.
    • Redemption is a gift to all.  It's a gift from God that is not dependent on a certain level of intelligence.
    • Our church is complete only when it includes all of God’s children and when all people are seen as equals—in God’s eyes and in our own eyes.
